Romania: UNSAR members post 4% rise in 2012 premiums
Posted On: Mar. 8, 2013 12:00 AM CSTThe National Union Association of Insurance and Reinsurance Companies from Romania (UNSAR) said that its 22 members posted combined gross written premiums of 7.5 billion Romanian leis ($2.24 billion) in 2012, up 4% from 2011.
However, the results represent a decline in real terms when the country’s economic growth and annual inflation rate is taken into account, reports Romanian news website DailyBusiness. Gross written premiums from members' property-casualty operations increased to RON 6 billion, rising from RON 5.4 billion in 2011.
