California's state workers comp fund names COO

California's State Compensation Insurance Fund announced the appointment of Beatriz Sanchez as the insurer's chief operating officer.

Ms. Sanchez joined the San Francisco-based workers compensation insurer as a claims adjuster in 1987 and then moved through various management-level positions, the company said Thursday in a statement.

"Beatriz has excelled at every leadership challenge she has faced over the two and a half years I've had the opportunity to work with her,” Tom Rowe, fund's president and CEO, said in a statement. “She not only solves problems, she has the ability to anticipate them, and respond in advance. Best-in-breed claims operations are led by capable individuals who are themselves claims experts who really understand claims operations top to bottom. State Fund's claims operation is fortunate to be led by such an individual."
