OFF BEAT: Rocky road for Stallone's 'Expendables' screenplay

Sylvester Stallone is not expendable when it comes to paying legal costs for lawsuits against him.

The action star, director and co-writer of “The Expendables” was sued by Marcus Webb, who claimed that Mr. Stallone copied his screenplay to make the 2010 movie, according to news reports.

Mr. Webb alleged that Mr. Stallone’s script was “strikingly similar and in some places identical” to his own work called, “The Cordoba Caper.” Mr. Webb sought damages for copyright infringement as well as an injunction to stop a sequel, according to reports.

U.S. District Judge Jed Rakoff in New York last year dismissed Mr. Webb’s lawsuit.

Now, Mr. Stallone has filed papers demanding Mr. Webb to pay more than $300,000 to recoup costs for the case, according to the New York Post.

And as we’ve learned from the “Rocky” movies, Mr. Stallone does not go down easy.
