Bermuda insurance association elects new officers

The Association of Bermuda Insurers and Reinsurers has elected its new officers for two-year terms beginning Jan. 1.

Mike McGavick, CEO of XL Group P.L.C., has been elected chair of the association’s board of directors, ABIR announced Thursday.

Mr. McGavick succeeds Arch Capital Group Ltd. President and CEO Constantine Iordanou, who has completed a two-year term as chair of the Hamilton, Bermuda-based ABIR.

In addition, Neill Currie, CEO of RenaissanceRe Holdings Ltd., was elected as first deputy chair of the organization. Stephen Catlin, chief executive of Catlin Group Ltd., was elected second deputy chair.
