A beach town in Belgium is considering a lawsuit against a local weather service after it said dismal weather forecasts rained on the city's summer tourism season.

Brussels-based Meteo Belgique predicted that Belgium would have a bout of gloomy weather during much of August, according to reports.

Leo Lippens, mayor of Knokke, Belgium, took issue because Belgium's coast—including his town—tends to have sunnier weather than Belgium's inland areas, according to NPR.

"We all know we're not in the Cote d'Azur or southern Italy," Mr. Lippens told NPR. "But we have a fantastic climate here, and to give the impression it is disgusting is disgusting, and that I don't allow."

Meteo Belgique contends that a disclaimer on its website releases the company from responsibility for its forecasts, reports say.
