NEW YORK—Towers Watson & Co. has created an information-sharing network geared toward senior risk officers of life, health and property/casualty insurers with significant North American operations.

According to Towers Watson, the Chief Risk Officer Network will provide an ongoing series of events including conferences, webinars and networking opportunities.

“The insurance industry is being subjected to heightened expectations to further enhance its risk management capabilities,” said Eric Simpson, senior consultant and head of the North American property/casualty enterprise risk management consulting practice at Towers Watson in Philadelphia.

At the same time, Mr. Simpson said, during the past year or two there's been an emergence of practical tools and methods that can be applied to those risk management efforts. One of the best ways to spread information about those tools and methods is through direct interaction with peers, he said.

The CRO Network will hold its first conference in Washington on Sept. 10-11.

“Most of the program is geared to CROs talking of their challenges and sharing ideas,” Mr. Simpson said.

There is no charge to join the CRO Network, and interested CROs and executives with risk leadership responsibilities at insurance companies in the U.S., Canada and Bermuda may do so at towerswatson.com/cronetwork_join.

“Our goal is not to maximize company count as much as to get CROs who are committed to the networking activity,” Mr. Simpson said.
