Swiss Re names head of Latin America reinsurance unit

MEXICO CITY—Swiss Re has announced the appointment of Alejandro Padilla as head of reinsurance Latin America North and president of Swiss Brokers Mexico Intermediario de Reaseguro S.A. de C.V., effective June 1.

In this newly created position, he will be responsible for the company’s reinsurance business in Mexico, Central America, Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic and Venezuela. Mr. Padilla reports to Eric Smith, Swiss Re Americas president and CEO. The appointment is subject to relevant regulatory filing and subsequent approval.

Previously, Mr. Padilla was country head of Mexico and Central America for Cooper Gay Swett & Crawford Ltd.

He will be based in Mexico City.
