The flood of acquisitions that marked the first quarter of the year has receded a bit. Still, there are a couple of acquisitions to report among the major brokerages this week.

Daytona Beach, Fla.-based Brown & Brown Inc. announced that its Brown & Brown of Pennsylvania Inc. subsidiary had acquired certain assets of Norristown, Pa.-based John D. Moten Inc., which does business as Moten Associates.

Moten offers surety bonds and a variety of property & casualty insurance products to clients throughout the Delaware Valley and the eastern United States, said Brown & Brown announcing the acquisition. Brown & Brown said Moten generates annual revenues of about $1.1 million.

Meanwhile, Itasca, Ill-based Arthur J. Gallagher & Co. also announced this week that it had acquired Baton Rouge, La.-based Besselman & Little Agency.

Bessleman specializes in group medical, dental, life, disability and long-term care insurance. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
