Hub acquisition includes a real pro

Hub International Ltd. announced earlier this week that it has acquired the assets of Signature Insurance Group, Inc., a Woodinville, Wash.-based insurance benefits brokerage firm. Signature will become part of Chicago-based Hub's Hub International Northwest operation.

As is often the case in such matters, the terms of the acquisition weren't disclosed. But what makes this acquisition a bit more interesting than many is that in acquiring Signature, Hub is also acquitting the services of Dennis Boyd, who served as Signature's vp-real estate sales.

Mr. Boyd is a former pro football player. After playing for Oregon State, he spent his entire pro career—which lasted from 1977 to 1982—with the Seattle Seahawks. It's not every transaction comes with a real pro as a bonus.
