BI’s Article search uses Boolean search capabilities. If you are not familiar with these principles, here are some quick tips.

To search specifically for more than one word, put the search term in quotation marks. For example, “workers compensation”. This will limit your search to that combination of words.

To search for a combination of terms, use quotations and the & symbol. For example, “hurricane” & “loss”.

OFF BEAT: Master butcher insures taste buds for $1.5M

Reprints

Imagine having a taste for cured meat so refined it’s considered an insurable asset.

That’s exactly the position British master butcher Keith Fisher finds himself in, as a pork-centric trade group in central England for which he serves as a board member has taken out a $1.5 million insurance policy on his taste buds, according to a BBC report.

Mr. Fisher is the head judge of a national bacon competition being held this week. According to the BBC, the policy will cover the 61-year-old’s sense of taste, which can distinguish between more than 50,000 types of cured meat.

The policy was purchased by British Pig Executive, a trade association representing pig levy payers in England, according to the BBC.

"As a grand master butcher and the resident baconologist and head judge for Bacon Connoisseurs’ Week, Keith's vast experience makes him the ideal person to lead the judging panel of tasters,” a spokeswoman for BPEX told the BBC. “As such, it was imperative that we protect his prize assets for the campaign.”
