Commenting period on proposed disability rule extended

WASHINGTON—The U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance has agreed to requests and granted a 14-day extension for comments on its proposed disability rule, the office said Tuesday.

Under the proposal, which was made late last year, federal contractors and subcontractors would be obligated to set a goal of having 7% of their workforce be people with disabilities.

Observers have said monitoring compliance with the rule would create administrative headaches and present challenges in finding sufficient numbers of disabled workers.

The original deadline was Tuesday, but comments now will be accepted until Feb. 21.

The proposal is available at www.regulations.gov.
