Deborah Luthi named president of Risk & Insurance Management Society

NEW YORK—The Risk & Insurance Management Society Inc. has named Deborah M. Luthi, who is enterprise risk manager for the San Francisco Public Utilities Commission, as the society's president for 2012.

Ms. Luthi's term began with the new year.

Ms. Luthi has been a RIMS member for nearly 32 years, served on the New York-based society's board for 11 years, and was a vp and board liaison to RIMS' Finance Committee and Spencer Educational Foundation Committee. She is a member of RIMS Golden Gate Chapter as well as the Sacramento Valley Chapter, which she co-founded in 1991.

Other officers on RIMS' 2012 board include Vp John R. Phelps, director of business risk solutions at Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Florida Inc.; Treasurer Carolyn M. Snow, director of risk management at Humana Inc.; and Corporate Secretary Nowell R. Seaman, manager of risk management and insurance services at the University of Saskatchewan.
