Brokerage Aon Corp. says it is celebrating its 25th anniversary by pledging $15 million to Chicago-based nonprofits over a five-year period.

“We see community service as an extension of what we do every day in our work, which includes empowering people and communities at risk,” Greg Case, Aon president and CEO, said Monday in a statement. “Whether it is by working to provide access to education, encouraging appreciation for the arts or stimulating economic development, Aon is committed to using its resources to help people in Chicago reach their full potential.”

Aon, the moniker the brokerage took in April 1987, already has distributed more than $70 million in charitable contributions through Aon Foundation to Chicago nonprofit groups.
