Swiss Re CEO Stefan Lippe to retire next year

ZURICH—Stefan Lippe will retire as CEO of Swiss Re Ltd. sometime next year, the company announced Monday.

Mr. Lippe, who has been with Swiss Re nearly 30 years, became CEO of the Zurich-based reinsurer in 2009.

In a statement, Swiss Re said that “a successor is planned to be appointed soon” and that Mr. Lippe would aid with the transition.

Mr. Lippe said in the statement that, since leading the company through a time of transition that established a new holding structure this year, he believes now is the right time for him to retire early.
