Indiana health care risk management award announced

INDIANAPOLIS—The Indiana Society For Healthcare Risk Management has named David J. Stach, legal counsel at Parkview Health in Fort Wayne, Ind., as the 2011 recipient of the Glenn T. Troyer Healthcare Risk Manager of the Year.

The award was presented to Mr. Stach on Friday in Indianapolis, according to a statement.

Since 1991 and in honor of association founder Glenn T. Troyer, the annual award has recognized outstanding risk management professionals, Ann Bumb, ISHRM president, said in an email. She also is clinical outcomes specialist for standards compliance and patient safety at St. Francis Health, a unit of Franciscan Alliance Inc.

Mr. Stach joined Parkview Health in 2003, where he managed the health system's self-insurance trust. He manages risk for all of Parkview Health's hospitals and serves as the system's medical malpractice attorney.

Mr. Stach, who also is past president of ISHRM, is a brother of Business Insurance Publisher Mark Stach.
