ALBANY, N.Y.—The New York State Workers’ Compensation Board released new guidelines Thursday to determine permanent physical impairment and loss of wage earning capacity.
The new guidelines, which take effect Jan. 1, 2012, replace the state’s 1996 Medical Impairment Guidelines.
“The 2012 New York State Guidelines for Determining Permanent Impairment and Loss of Wage Earning Capacity should bring greater clarity to the implementation of the duration caps on permanent partial disability benefits that were agreed to as part of the 2007 reform,” the board said in a statement.
