Former Travelers exec Lorraine Seib to head XL Group's excess casualty unit

NEW YORK—Lorraine Seib has been named president of XL Group's P.L.C’s North America property/casualty insurance unit’s excess casualty team, XL announced Thursday.

Ms. Seib previously served as president of excess casualty at Travelers Cos. Inc., a position she had held since 2005.

In her new job, Ms. Seib will report to Seraina Maag, chief executive of XL's North America property/casualty insurance group. Ms. Seib will be based in New York and manage XL's global excess casualty business with underwriting operations in New York, Bermuda, Dublin, London and Toronto as well as U.S. field operations.

“With over 30 years of insurance underwriting and management experience, Lorraine steps into this new position with a proven track record of not only producing profitable growth but bringing together multiple business units to work toward one cohesive goal,” Ms. Maag said in a statement. “Under Lorraine's direction, we're looking to maximize our global excess casualty capacity and lead umbrella capabilities.”
