WASHINGTON—Brian Duperreault, president and CEO of New York-based Marsh & McLennan Cos. Inc., is among 15 representatives named to the new Federal Advisory Committee on Insurance, the Treasury Department announced Wednesday.

Other property/casualty insurance industry representatives named to the panel, which will advise the Federal Insurance Office, include John Degnan, senior adviser to the CEO of Warren, N.J.-based Chubb Corp.; Christopher Mansfield, senior vp and general counsel of Boston-based Liberty Mutual Group Inc.; and Sean McGovern, director and general counsel of New York-based Lloyd's North America.

In addition, Scott E. Harrington, Alan B. Miller Professor in the health care management and insurance and risk management departments at the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School in Philadelphia was named to the committee.

Most of the rest of those named represent state regulators.

“These individuals have tremendous knowledge about the insurance industry and a wide cross-section of experience,” said FIO Director Michael McRaith in a statement announcing the appointments. “I'm pleased that they will be offering their valuable expertise as the Federal Insurance Office continues moving forward with its critical work.”

Treasury announced the creation of the committee in May.
