Brian Duperreault to receive Distinguished Leadership Award

Brian Duperreault, president and CEO of Marsh & McLennan Cos. Inc., will receive the Insurance Society of Philadelphia's inaugural Distinguished Leadership Award to its 19th Annual Independence Gala on Nov. 16, 2011, the society announced Thursday.

The new award “recognizes executives who exhibit exemplary leadership, promote the stature of the insurance and associated industries in the community and global marketplace, and provide ongoing support to charitable programs and events,” said the society in a statement announcing the award.

“For over 100 years, the Insurance Society of Philadelphia has taken a leadership role in mentoring insurance leaders throughout the Delaware Valley, and in fact, worldwide,” said John B. Sherlock, president of the Mid Atlantic Region of Chartis Inc. and chair of the Independence Gala Committee, in the statement. “There is no one who better exemplifies distinguished leadership than Brian Duperreault, both philanthropically and throughout his tenure as a well-respected executive.”
