Largest property/casualty insurance wholesalers ranked by <i>Business Insurance</i>

AmWINS Group Inc. ranks No. 1 in the 2011 Business Insurance ranking of the largest property/casualty insurance wholesalers.

Charlotte, N.C.-based AmWINS Group reported a 9.5% increase in premium volume, which rose to $4.07 billion in 2010 to maintain the No. 1 ranking.

Maintaining the No. 2 position from last year, Birmingham, Ala.-based CRC Insurance Services Inc. reported $2.15 billion in 2010 premium volume, a 26.7% decrease from 2009.

Rounding out the top five are Atlanta-based Swett & Crawford Group Inc.; Roseland, N.J.-based Crump Group Inc.; and Hunt Valley, Md.-based All Risks Ltd. All maintained the same position from last year’s ranking.
