Law firm Edwards Angell to merge with Wildman Harrold

BOSTON—Law firms Edwards Angell Palmer & Dodge L.L.P. and Wildman, Harrold, Allen & Dixon L.L.P. said Monday that they will merge effective Oct. 1.

Boston-based Edwards Angell has an extensive insurance and reinsurance practice, among other areas.

Chicago-based Wildman Harrold’s practice areas include product liability law.

The new firm, with 13 offices and 650 lawyers, will be called Edwards Wildman Palmer L.L.P.

In a statement announcing the merger, Edwards Angell said the new law firm “will offer integrated services across a core group of disciplines” that include insurance and reinsurance as well as corporate and financial transactions.

Walter G.D. Reed, managing partner at Edwards Angell, will be managing partner of Edwards Wildman. Robert L. Shuftan, managing partner at Wildman Harrold, will be deputy managing partner of the merged law firm and chair of its strategic planning committee, according to the statement.
