XL to move domicile to Ireland, change name

HAMILTON, Bermuda—XL Capital Ltd. said Friday that its shareholders have approved changing the domicile of the parent holding company from the Cayman Islands to Ireland.

Shareholders also approved changing the company’s name from XL Capital to XL Group Ltd. The name change and redomestication are expected to be completed in July.

“We believe our redomestication to Ireland will offer us opportunities to reduce certain risks and reinforce our reputation across our global business platforms,” Mike McGavick, XL’s CEO, said in a statement.
