Guy Carpenter names Latin America, Caribbean head

MIAMI—Reinsurance brokerage Guy Carpenter & Co. L.L.C. said Wednesday it has named Aidan Pope, the former chief executive officer of rival Aon Benfield’s Latin American and Caribbean operations, to lead its own expansion in the region.

Mr. Pope has been named CEO of Latin America and Caribbean operations at Guy Carpenter and will be based in Miami. He reports to Andrew Marcell, CEO of Guy Carpenter’s Americas operations.

New York-based Guy Carpenter, a reinsurance brokerage unit of Marsh & McLennan Cos. Inc., also recruited Judi Newsam, to head its treaty business in Brazil working in Rio de Janeiro. Previously she was managing director of Aon Benfield’s Brazil office.

Meanwhile, Aon has named Mike Hughes to succeed Mr. Pope as CEO of its Latin American and Caribbean operations.
