BI’s Article search uses Boolean search capabilities. If you are not familiar with these principles, here are some quick tips.

To search specifically for more than one word, put the search term in quotation marks. For example, “workers compensation”. This will limit your search to that combination of words.

To search for a combination of terms, use quotations and the & symbol. For example, “hurricane” & “loss”.

Aon Re Global's ability to reach worldwide and its ability to provide its clients with integrated capital solutions and services are two factors that distinguish the Aon Corp. unit from its competitors, says Michael D. O'Halleran, its executive chairman.

Those capabilities may be why Chicago-based Aon Re has been voted best reinsurance intermediary in Business Insurance's 2007 Readers Choice Awards. It is the second consecutive year Aon Re has been honored.

"Aon Re is truly a global, seamless, borderless" company that has organized around its clients "through segmentations, through specialization and through really investing in the most talented people we possibly can," said Mr. O'Halleran.

Furthermore, integrated capital solutions and services is a company theme, he said.

"We're No. 1" in treaty, facultative and the capital markets area "and we've done that by design," said Mr. O'Halleran, former chairman and chief executive officer who was named executive chairman earlier this month.

In today's evolving marketplace, "we don't really care what form of capital we bring to our client" so long as it is the most efficient and effective form. Aon Re considers "in a very objective way what's best for them," Mr. O'Halleran said.

Meanwhile, recently appointed CEO Ted D. Devine said, "I think Aon Re Global has done more capital markets solutions than anyone in the industry, both in sophistication and size," and has been able to help its clients' balance sheets.

In addition, said Mr. O'Halleran, Aon is a "world-class services organization" that offers actuarial services, catastrophe exposure modeling, capital markets opportunities and a dynamic financial analysis program, among others.

Over the years, "we've invested a huge amount of money to make certain that we have depth and breadth in everything we do in each one of these areas," Mr. O'Halleran said.

One major recent change is Mr. Devine's promotion. He previously served as Aon Risk Services America's chief operating officer and head of global strategy for Aon Corp.

Now, Mr. O'Halleran will focus on clients, while Mr. Devine will concentrate on Aon Re's day-to-day activities, said Mr. O'Halleran.

"It's not about a change in leadership. It's about an investment in leadership," said Mr. Devine.
