BI’s Article search uses Boolean search capabilities. If you are not familiar with these principles, here are some quick tips.

To search specifically for more than one word, put the search term in quotation marks. For example, “workers compensation”. This will limit your search to that combination of words.

To search for a combination of terms, use quotations and the & symbol. For example, “hurricane” & “loss”.

E.C. launches medical intelligence system

Reprints

BRUSSELS, Belgium— The European Commission has launched a medical intelligence system that it hopes will provide health authorities with real-time knowledge about disease outbreaks or industrial accidents.

It hopes that the new system will therefore help to identify incidents as early as possible and enable the authorities to react in a timely way.

The Commission said that it also hopes that MediSys will help authorities tackling a major incident such as a biological terrorist attack.

MediSys constantly collects and sorts information from more than 1,000 news and 120 public health websites in 32 languages.

It crawls through the web and sorts information into three primary categories: "Diseases", "Bioterrorism," and "Other Threats."

Articles are then classified in more precise categories.
