BI’s Article search uses Boolean search capabilities. If you are not familiar with these principles, here are some quick tips.

To search specifically for more than one word, put the search term in quotation marks. For example, “workers compensation”. This will limit your search to that combination of words.

To search for a combination of terms, use quotations and the & symbol. For example, “hurricane” & “loss”.

If the name "Synercon" sounds familiar, it should. Founded in the early 1970s, Synercon Corp. was a Nashville, Tenn.-based publicly held brokerage that New York-based Corroon & Black Corp. acquired in 1976.

Corroon & Black merged with Willis Faber P.L.C. in 1990 to form Willis Corroon Group P.L.C., which now is known as Willis Group Holdings Ltd.

Veteran insurance brokerage executives David D. Haynes and Kenneth H. Pinkston, who announced last week the formation of Franklin, Tenn.-based Synercon Insurance Holdings, met in 1973 while working for the original Synercon Corp.

"The name Synercon has important significance for David and me," Mr. Pinkston said in a statement. "We honor the history and philosophy of that company and its founders with the establishment of this dynamic new venture."
