BI’s Article search uses Boolean search capabilities. If you are not familiar with these principles, here are some quick tips.

To search specifically for more than one word, put the search term in quotation marks. For example, “workers compensation”. This will limit your search to that combination of words.

To search for a combination of terms, use quotations and the & symbol. For example, “hurricane” & “loss”.

TUC issues pandemic guidance for employers

Reprints

LONDON—The Trades Union Congress has published advice for employers and labor unions on how to prepare workplaces for an outbreak of pandemic influenza.

The London-based TUC advises companies to develop a contingency plan for dealing with an outbreak.

For example, the TUC said employers should develop plans to enable employees to work from home if an outbreak should disrupt transport and schooling, among other things.

The TUC also counsels employers to take advice from the government's Department of Health on how to plan for an outbreak.

The labor union also warned employers that stockpiling anti-viral medication or items such as latex gloves may actually increase the risk to their staff as employees may feel they can come to work, even if they are ill.
