C.V. Starr names new president

SAN FRANCISCO--Jeffrey M. Hafter has been promoted to president of San Francisco-based C.V. Starr & Co.

Mr. Hafter most recently served as executive vp of C.V. Starr & Co., which also is known as Starr California.

A unit of the New York-based C.V. Starr & Co. Inc. holding company, Starr underwrites specialty casualty insurance, including public entity, residential and commercial contracting industries.

Mr. Hafter succeeds William J. Weichold, who is retiring, Starr said in a statement.
