BI’s Article search uses Boolean search capabilities. If you are not familiar with these principles, here are some quick tips.

To search specifically for more than one word, put the search term in quotation marks. For example, “workers compensation”. This will limit your search to that combination of words.

To search for a combination of terms, use quotations and the & symbol. For example, “hurricane” & “loss”.

Commissioner: more action needed on climate

European Commissioner Andris Piebalgs told a meeting of ministers organized by UNESCO and the Russian Ministry of Industry and Energy in Paris that further international action is needed to tackle global warming.

''Global warming is a global challenge and improved security of oil and gas supply will only result from real international action. The European Union can set the pace on these issues, but it needs to bring other partners onboard. There is an evidence of the need of the broadest international coalition to address such issues as the reduction of green house gases, the improvement of energy efficiency and the fair allocation of scarce energy resources," the Commissioner said at the conference.

Mr. Piebalgs also held a meeting with Russian Energy Minister Viktor Khristenko to discuss E.U.-Russia energy cooperation and try to make progress on linking the two energy networks more effectively together.

This was the first meeting to take place after the E.U.-Russia Samara summit which endorsed the principle of the creation of an early-warning mechanism.

During the meeting, Commissioner Piebalgs discussed possible "modalities" of such a mechanism, according to an European Commissioner statement.

The statement said that the commissioner and the minister reviewed the progress in an ongoing feasibility study for the synchronous interconnection of the Russian power system IPS/UPS and the European UCTE that would prepare the model to link the two networks together.
