Lockton opens Bermuda office

HAMILTON, Bermuda--Lockton Cos. International Ltd., the international brokerage unit of Kansas, Mo.-based Lockton Cos. Inc., has launched a new office in Bermuda.

The Hamilton, Bermuda-based office will handle property, energy, casualty, health care and financial lines business, Lockton said in a statement.

Ed Correia has been tapped to lead the development of the Bermudian operation, while William Lowe and Philip DiMeglio have been appointed producers. The trio joined from Marsh Inc., Aon (Bermuda) Ltd. and JLT Risk Solutions, respectively.

"Bermuda has been a magnet for insurance capital since the losses of (the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks) and more recently the 2005 hurricane season. As we develop our global footprint, we felt it was essential to provide our clients with direct access to this important market," said Paul Jack, chairman of Lockton International's Global Risks unit in London, in the statement.
