NEW ORLEANS--William J. Kelly, president of WJK Advisory L.L.C. and former president of the Risk & Insurance Management Society Inc., was awarded the Harry and Dorothy Goodell Award during Monday's opening session of the society's 2007 conference in New Orleans.
The award is the highest honor bestowed by RIMS and is awarded to an individual who has furthered risk management as a discipline and the goals of RIMS.
Before setting up his advisory company, Mr. Kelly was a director with PricewaterhouseCoopers L.L.P., and prior to that he was a managing director at J.P. Morgan & Co. in New York, where his responsibilities included corporate risk and insurance management and various other corporate resource areas.
In addition to serving as president of RIMS in 1995-1996, Mr. Kelly is also a former chairman of the International Federation of Risk & Insurance Management Assns. and former chairman of the insurance committee of the American Bankers Assn.
Mr. Kelly began his insurance career as an underwriter with INA in 1972.
RIMS presented several other awards during the opening session and at Monday's lunch.
