President named for FSMG

HARTFORD, Conn.--Judith A. Patterson has been named president of First State Management Group, a wholly owned subsidiary of the Hartford Financial Services Group Inc., the insurer announced Thursday.

Ms. Patterson will succeed Ralph J. Palmieri, who is retiring after a 31-year career with FSMG and Hartford. Boston-based FSMG primarily underwrites surplus lines insurance for high-risk accounts and distributes this coverage through licensed wholesalers.

Ms. Patterson, currently the executive vp of FSMG, will assume overall responsibility for the operation effective May 1.
