Lancashire promotes managers

HAMILTON, Bermuda--Specialty insurer Lancashire Holdings Ltd. on Tuesday announced a trio of senior management promotions.

Simon Burton--previously deputy chief underwriting officer for Lancashire--was appointed deputy chief executive officer of the holding company. At the same time, Mr. Burton was named CEO and chief underwriting officer of Lancashire Insurance Co. Ltd., the group's Bermuda underwriting platform.Additionally, Elaine Whelan, formerly financial controller, was appointed chief financial officer of Lancashire Insurance.

Both appointments are subject to approval from Bermuda's immigration department.Alex Maloney, meanwhile, has been named chief underwriting officer of Lancashire Insurance Co. (UK) Ltd. Mr. Maloney previously served as an energy underwriter in the office.

"These promotions are a natural step in the evolution of the Lancashire Group," Bob Spass, chairman of Lancashire, said in a statement. "They reflect the fact that, while headquartered in Bermuda, the addition of the underwriting platform in London means the group now writes its diversified mix of insurance products across two major locations."
