CII opens office in Mumbai

MUMBAI, India—The Chartered Insurance Institute is opening its first office in India to meet a growing demand for its professional development services.

The CII office in Mumbai is expected to open with the next two months in the Nariman Point business district.

"The Indian market is expanding very rapidly with a growing number of global companies establishing a presence," Steve Jenkins, director of business development at the London-based institute, said in a statement.

He said the "desire to drive up professional standards and encourage study for qualifications in India is immense."

Sainesh Dar, who spent much of his career with insurers Tata AIG and Hollard Insurance Co. Ltd., has been recruited to establish the office and lead the team that will provide services to the Indian market.
