ALBANY, N.Y.--State lawmakers on Tuesday adopted the compromise workers compensation reform package announced last week by New York Gov. Eliot Spitzer.

The governor pulled New York business and labor representatives together to craft the bill, which he said would reduce costs by 10% to 15%.

Among several changes, the package would cap the length of time that claimants can collect permanent partial disability benefits. But it would also increase weekly benefits for injured workers.
