The Professional Liability Underwriting Society's annual D&O Symposium drew nearly 1,400 attorneys and insurance, reinsurance and brokerage representatives from countries including the United States, Australia, Bermuda, Canada, France and the United Kingdom.

Held Jan. 31-Feb. 1 at the Marriott Marquis in New York, the event featured panel discussions and interactive sessions that delved into topics in directors and officers exposures, such as the stock-options backdating scandal, executive compensation and private equity-related D&O risks.

Keynote speakers for the event were Chubb Corp. Vice Chairman John J. Degnan and former U.S. Sen. George J. Mitchell, D-Maine, who now is chairman of the board at law firm DLA Piper U.S. L.L.P.

The 2008 PLUS D&O Symposium will be held Feb. 5-6 at the Marriott Marquis in New York.
