Insurers:

ACE Ltd. has named Roberto Hidalgo as president and chief executive officer of ACE Argentina and ACE Chile. He formerly was president and CEO of ACE Puerto Rico and will be based in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

Also at ACE, Judith Hernandez-Tate, regional vp, property, for ACE Latin America, will succeed Mr. Hidalgo as president and CEO of ACE Puerto Rico and be based in San Juan. She will continue in her senior commercial property insurance role for ACE Latin America.

New York-based American International Group Inc. named Daniel S. Glaser and Julio Portalatin each to be AIG senior vp, foreign general insurance. Mr. Glaser also is managing director of AIG Europe (U.K.) Ltd. and AIU regional president, U.K./Ireland division. Mr. Portalatin also is president of the AIU accident and health division.

Harleysville, Pa.-based Harleysville Insurance Cos. has appointed Ronald Gorman as regional president of its Mid-Atlantic operation. Previously, he was senior vp of field operations for Zurich Small Business.

Washington-based ULLICO Inc. has named Gary A. Amelio president, retirement services. Previously, he was executive director of the Federal Retirement Thrift Investment Board, a defined contribution plan.

Warwick, R.I.-based Beacon Mutual Insurance Co. has named James V. Rosati president and CEO. Mr. Rosati had been an investment banker with Providence, R.I.-based Riparian Partners Ltd., which specializes in mergers and acquisitions.

Brokers:

Anita Verheul has been named executive vp at Boston-based William Gallagher Associates. Before her promotion, she was a senior vp.

Luc Brunet and Jacques Simard have both been named senior vp and account executive in the Montreal office of Willis Group Holdings Ltd. Mr. Brunet joins Willis from Essor Assurances Placements Conseil Inc., where he was vp, business development and risk management. Previously, Mr. Simard was a senior vp, brokers services, at Marsh Canada.

Also at Willis in New York, Rick Elliott, Alain Bicque and Chris Mooney have been named vice chairmen of Willis' global employee benefits practice.

• Mr. Elliott, who most recently served as leader of Willis' North America Employee Benefits Practice, will assume a new role as director of global sales.

• Mr. Bicque will continue as employee benefits practice leader for Willis' international operations.

• Mr. Mooney joined Willis to take over the North American employee benefits practice leadership role previously held by Mr. Elliott. Previously, Mr. Mooney was a senior vp at Fidelity Investments.

Matthew Gardner has joined Bollinger Inc. as managing director of the commercial lines division in Short Hills, N.J. He joined Bollinger from Commerce Banc Insurance Services, where he was senior vp in charge of the Pennsylvania region and the executive risk and surety practices.

Gary F. Kilburg has joined Redwood City, Calif.-based ABD Insurance & Financial Services as senior vp and chief risk officer. Previously, he was assistant treasurer, risk management at Whirlpool Corp.

Christine DiBona has joined Wachovia Insurance Services as senior vp, managing director of the New York operation, which includes New York, Connecticut and Boston. Before joining Wachovia, she was a managing director and co-leader of Marsh's New York metro zone.

Beecher Carlson has expanded its New York executive liability team with the addition of Frederick A. Ryder as managing director. Previously, he was vice chairman and chief operating officer of Marsh Inc.'s FINPRO U.S. practice.

Reinsurance:

New York-based Guy Carpenter & Co. L.L.C. has named Garick Zillgitt as senior vp and Western region business development leader. Previously, Mr. Zillgitt was senior vp of origination at Benfield Group Ltd.

London-based Benfield Group Ltd. has appointed Jeremy Goodman as executive vp. Previously, he was a managing director of Cooper Gay Steele.

Replacing Mr. Goodman at Cooper Gay Steele will be Peter Gorman. Mr. Gorman will continue to serve as London-based Cooper Gay (Holdings) Ltd.'s North American chief financial officer.
