Canada's federal government proposes income trust tax rule changes that include:

Taxing distributions from publicly traded income trusts

Imposing the distribution tax with the 2007 taxation year for income trusts that began trading after Oct. 31, 2006

Imposing the distribution tax with the 2011 taxation year on income trusts existing on or before Oct. 31, 2006
