TOKYO, Japan— Fuji Fire & Marine Insurance Co, the Japanese nonlife insurance company, plans to shortly introduce a new service to help it process claims in disaster-hit areas more effectively.

The company said that the service will use motor vehicles sent to disaster sites that will carry personal computers that can be hooked up to Fuji's computer system.

Fuji said that it took an average of 28 days to pay claims after last September's No. 13 typhoon.

It reckons that the new service will make it possible to make payments within three days at the earliest.
