Swiss Re replaces CFO

ZURICH, Switzerland—Swiss Reinsurance Co. has named a new chief financial officer to replace Ann Godbehere, who has held the position for the past four years.

Ms. Godbehere, who has been at Swiss Re for 25 years, is succeeded by George Quinn who also joins the Swiss Re executive committee, effective March 1, 2007. Mr. Quinn is currently regional chief financial officer for Swiss Re Americas, having joined the company in 1999 from KPMG.

A spokesperson for Swiss Re said that after four years as CFO, in which time she rebuilt the company's balance sheet, completed a number of acquisitions and completed the integration of Swiss Re's acquisition of GE Insurance Solutions, Ms. Godbehere is leaving the company. There were no reasons given for Ms. Godbehere's departure.

In a separate announcement, the company also said that it has completed its £465 million ($610 million) acquisition of the United Kingdom life business of General Electric Co. Swiss Re, which specializes in purchasing unwanted books of life business, announced that it was to buy the GE portfolio in October.
