CIGNA launches Fundamental Care

BLOOMFIELD, Conn.—CIGNA HealthCare is offering Fundamental Care, a plan that will give employers the ability to provide benefits to employees who are ineligible for or do not have access to traditional major medical coverage.

Companies can offer Fundamental Care to all employees as a core medical plan, to a selected class of employees within the entire population or to employees during their service waiting period until they are eligible for the company-sponsored major medical plan.

Fundamental Care is available to companies with 51 or more eligible employees and is designed to be 25% to 40% less expensive than traditional major medical coverage, according to a survey by the Kaiser Family Foundation and the Health Research and Educational Trust. Fundamental Care has maximum coverage levels up to $100,000 per year and requires a minimum employer contribution of 25%. Plans can be tailored to match the cost and benefit levels that meet the financial and medical needs of the workforce, the Bloomfield, Conn., insurer said.

Schinnerer offers tech E&O program

CHEVY CHASE, Md.—Victor O. Schinnerer & Co. is offering a new online application for errors and omissions insurance for technology firms.

This program helps simplify the application process by saving time and effort for both brokers and clients. In addition to quotes being delivered and processed more quickly, the new online application has other time saving features that include:

  • "Pause" allows the applicant to save the application midstream and return to it later using a tracking number.

  • "Forward" allows the applicant to e-mail the application to others for help in completing certain sections.

  • "Submit" sends the application directly to Schinnerer. Copies are automatically sent to all e-mail addresses included on the application, including the broker and the prospective policyholder.

  • "Attachment" allows documents of all kinds to be attached to the online application instead of mailing them separately.

  • "Coded Links" are customized for the broker that, when accessed, prefill the application with the brokerage information. Brokers can send the coded links to prospects via e-mail.
