Harbor Point names CFO, general counsel

PEMBROKE, Bermuda--Bermuda-based reinsurer Harbor Point Ltd. has named Andrew Cook as its chief financial officer and Carol S. Rivers as general counsel.

Mr. Cook--who previously served as chief financial officer of AXIS Capital Holdings Ltd.--was also named president and CFO of the Harbor Point Re Ltd. subsidiary, according to a company statement.

Ms. Rivers, who also joined Harbor Point Ltd. from AXIS Capital, was additionally named general counsel of Harbor Point Re and secretary of both units, the statement said.

John R. Berger, president and CEO of Harbor Point Ltd., said, "I look forward to the continuing to work closely with Andrew and Carol, both of whom have distinguished track records in the insurance industry. Their skills and experience will be invaluable to Harbor Point as we build a significant presence in the property/casualty reinsurance market."

Harbor Point was created in the wake of the devastating 2005 hurricane season by Warren, N.J.-based Chubb Corp. and Greenwich, Conn.-based Stone Point Capital L.L.C. as a spinoff of Chubb Re.
