Letter: With transparency, contingents no problem
Posted On: Nov. 12, 2006 12:00 AM CSTTo the editor: In your blurb Nov. 6 about Marsh Inc. pursing middle-market business, CEO Brian Storms makes a lot of hay about the disparity between Marsh and most other brokers related to contingent commissions.
He fails to mention why this is important to the insured if we in the broker community do our job transparently. Since the insurance companies do not price coverage differently based on the inclusion (or not) of contingencies, where is the beef? If Marsh had not been so deceitful in placing business in the past, treating client accounts like revolving bank accounts, Mr. Storms' comments might make more sense.
