Aon creates separate unit for Asia Pacific

ROTTERDAM, The Netherlands—Aon Corp. has reorganized its Europe, Middle East, Africa and Asia Pacific insurance and reinsurance brokerage and employee benefits operations.

Previously, Aon Holdings, based in the Netherlands, was the company's regional headquarters for the Europe, Middle East, Africa and Asia Pacific area.

Effective November 6, Aon said in a statement, the Asia Pacific operations now are a separate unit that reports directly to the broker's headquarters in Chicago.The broker said the move would enable it to better serve clients needs.

Roelof Hendriks, vice-chairman of Aon Holdings, has been appointed chief executive officer of Aon EMEA and a member of the broker's policy committee.

And Bernie Fung, CEO of Aon Pacific, has also been appointed to the broker's policy committee. In addition, Aon announced that Dick Verbeek, previously chairman and CEO of Aon Holdings, has been appointed vice-chairman of Aon Group.
