Industry turning focus back toward customers

JUDGING FROM THE TALK at the 93rd annual Insurance Leadership Forum at The Greenbrier resort last week, insurance brokers and company executives have returned to focusing on everyday business matters.

If the upheaval from the investigations of broker and insurer practices during the past two years remains, it wasn't evident at this year's gathering of top industry executives. According to broker and insurer executives, their meetings during the forum centered on market issues.

That is good news, because it means that brokers and insurers are putting more of their focus on serving their clients. Businesses need the help in managing risk and solving coverage problems, despite the apparent respite from catastrophes so far this year.

The ongoing investigations have prompted a hard look at how brokers, insurers and reinsurers do business, and that ultimately is good for the industry and for its customers. We hope that the industry continues to keep its promise to be more transparent to insurance buyers.
