Liberty Mutual rolls out online workers comp info

BOSTON—Liberty Mutual Group is giving workers compensation customers access to all documents related to workers compensation claims online.

The Boston-based insurer has reduced the time required for such outside documents as medical reports, bills and digital photographs to be available in its online system. Reports transmitted electronically instantly become part of the system, while paper documents are scanned into the system within a day of arriving at Liberty Mutual, the company said.

Liberty Mutual customers can access the documents through the insurer's RISKTRAC online risk information system. While providing access to the information online, Liberty said the system fully protects the privacy of confidential medical information.

The insurer said the online access will benefit Liberty Mutual customers by helping sharpen the focus on managing claims, make it easier for the various parties involved in a workers comp claim to work together to control costs, and allow Liberty Mutual claims and service professionals to answer policyholder questions within minutes.

And, with access to all related claims information online, policyholders will be able to answer their own questions in many cases, according to the insurer.

Liberty Mutual said its general liability policyholders will see similar benefits next year as the company takes a similar approach to handling information related to managing liability claims.
