White Mountains hires reinsurance unit leader

HAMILTON, Bermuda--C. Russell Fletcher is joining White Mountains Insurance Group Ltd. as president and chief executive officer of the company's reinsurance underwriting advisory unit.

In his new role, Mr. Fletcher will serve as head of White Mountains Re Underwriting Services Ltd. (Bermuda), which acts as the center of property catastrophe referrals for White Mountains' global operations.

The appointment of Mr. Fletcher, who has 20 years of underwriting experience in the reinsurance sector--including having previously served as chief underwriting officer at Hamilton, Bermuda-based Montpelier Re Holdings Ltd.--is subject to Bermuda immigration approvals.

"The addition of Russ to the team will provide a tremendous boost to our company," Tom Hutton, president and CEO of White Mountains Re, said in a statement.
