Iberian duo appointed by AXA

MADRID, Spain--AXA S.A. has announced the appointment of Jean-Raymond Abat as chairman for its Spanish insurance activities.

Mr. Abat is group regional chief executive officer for AXA's Mediterranean region, which includes Spain, Italy, Portugal, Morocco, the Persian Gulf and Lebanon.

In addition, Javier de Agustin, currently CEO of AXA Seguros, will be appointed CEO of AXA's insurance activities in Spain.

AXA will operate from Madrid and Barcelona as its headquarters for the Spanish market, it said.

The appointments are effective January 1, 2007.
