Hampden puts Lloyds 2007 capacity at £16 billion

LONDON -- Private investors at Lloyd's of London advised by Hampden Agencies Ltd., the largest members' agent, have increased underwriting capacity by £175 million ($327 million) over the past year, and capacity provided by Hampden's names will top £2 billion for 2007, the agency said.

Following the annual capacity auctions at Lloyd's, which took place this week, Hampden said individual investors - or names - it advises will contribute about 12% of Lloyd's estimated capacity of £16 billion for 2007.Lloyds capacity in 2006 was £14.8 billion.

Hampden also said that it had seen the formation of 200 limited liability partnerships, a new form of investment vehicle at Lloyd's which will become effective next year.
