WILMINGTON, Del.—Risk management consultant ABS Corporate Solutions and its risk modeling affiliate EQECAT Inc. have entered into a contract with the Inter-American Development Bank for a catastrophic risk analysis project focusing on Bolivia, Guatemala, Jamaica and Peru.

The analysis will be used to develop risk management strategies to help the countries reduce disaster losses and safeguard the effectiveness of development assistance that the bank provides.

Financial terms of the contract were not disclosed.

Under the agreement, Wilmington, Del.-based ABS Corporate Solutions and Oakland, Calif.-based EQECAT will provide analysis intended to identify important disaster risk issues in the context of development priorities in the four nations and help the countries and the IDB understand risk management priorities.

The analysis will help guide the development bank's strategies and help identify and quantify risks within its loan portfolio.

ABS Corporate Solutions and EQECAT, which are units of ABSG Consulting Inc., will examine the potential impacts of a variety of natural and man-made perils on both public and private assets.
